This was my first attempt at banjo making (other than with
cookie tins). A friend was after an old-timey banjo, so I thought that I'd make one for him. I thought that if I bought a hand drum from a music store, I wouldn't have to create a rim myself. I used a rather figured piece of poplar for the neck, didn't add a fingerboard and bought fiddle pegs for tuners. At the time I made this instrument I hadn't made a banjo bridge before (now I make bidges for my banjos).
